RIGHT FORM OF VERBS

1. Subject যদি 3rd person singular number হয় এবং verb যদি present indefinite tense এ থাকে তাহলে verb এর শেষে s বা es যোগ করতে হয়।

      Incorrect: The boy (play) football.

      Correct: The boy plays football.

2.  Universal truth (চিরন্তন সত্য), habitual fact (অভ্যাসগত কর্ম) বুঝালে present indefinite tense হয়।

Incorrect: The sun rise in the East.

Correct: The sun rises in the East.

3.  à¦•à§‹à¦¨ সময়ের উল্লেখ থাকে না এমন sentense এ যদি always, regularly, sometimes, often, generally, daily, everybody, occationall, usually, normally ইত্যাদি থাকে present indefinite tense হয়।

Incorrect: He always disturb the class.

Correct: He always disturbs the class.

4.  Be verb বিহীন বাক্যকে negativeবা interrogative করতে হলে tense ও  subject আনুসারে do, does বা did ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

Incorrect: The girl not sing a song.

Correct: The girl does not sing a song.

5.  Interrogative Sentence-এ যদি what, when, where, who, which, whose, why, how থাকে তাহলে subject এর পূর্বে  tense ও person আনুযয়ী to be verb যোগ করতে হয়।  to be verb না থাকলে these ও  person আনুযয়ী do/does বা did বসে।

Incorrect: What you do now?

Correct: What are you doing now?

6. বর্তমানে চলছে এমন কোন কাজ বুঝাতে verb এর present indefinite Tense হয়। এক্ষেএে বর্তমান সময়ের(now, at that monent ইত্যাদি) উল্লেখ থাকে।  

Incorrect: He sing a song now.

Correct: He is singing a song now.

7. কোন Sentence-এ যদি has, have/had থাকে তাহলে verb এর past participle হয়।

Incorrect: He has do the work.

Correct: He has done the work.

8. Just, just now, already, yet, ever,lately, recently থাকলে present perfect tense হয়।

Incorrect: I see him recently.

Correct: I have seen him recently.

9. অতী্ত নির্দেশক শব্দ বা যেমন (yesterday, ago, long, since, last, night ইত্যাদি) থাকলে verb এর past tense হয়।

Incorrect: I come home yesterday.

Correct: I came home yesterday.

10. No sooner had……. than, scarcely had when, hardly had before থাকলে প্রথম ব্র্যাকেটর verb কে past participle করতে হয় এবং দ্বিতীয় ব্র্যাকেটের verb কে past form করতে হয়।

Incorrect: No sooner had he see the police than hfe run away.

Correct: No sooner had he seen the police then he ran away.

11. Since এর ১ম অংশ past indefinite/ present perfect tense হলে পরের অংশ past indefinite tense হয়।

Incorrect: It is many years since i come to Dhaka.

Correct: It is many years since i came to Dhaka.

12. Since এর ১ম à¦…ংশ past indefinite হলে পরের অংশ past perfect করতে হয়।

Incorrect: It was many years since they first meet.

Correct: It was many years since they had first met.

13. Before à¦à¦° ১ম à¦…ংশ past perfect tense হলে এর পরের অংশ past indefinite tense হয়। এবং after à¦à¦° ১ম à¦…ংশ past indefinite tense হলে এর পরের অংশ past perfect tense হয়।

Incorrect: The patient die before the doctor came.

Correct: The patient had died before the doctor came.

Incorrect: The patient died after the doctor come.

Correct: The patient died after the doctor had come.

14. যদি কোন simple sentence এ দুটি verb থাকে তাহলে পরের verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় অথবা verb টির পূর্বে to বসে। উল্লেখ্য উদ্দেশ্য বুঝালে verb এর আগে to বসে।

Incorrect: I saw him go.

Correct: I saw him going.

15. Had better, had rather, would better, would rather, let, must, need, dare ইত্যাদির পর প্রদত্ত verb এর present form হয় এবং প্রদত্ত verb এর পূর্বে to থাকলে to উঠে যায়।

Incorrect: You had better to go home.

Correct: You had better go home.

Incorrect: I will not let you to enter the classroom.

Correct: I will not let you enter the classroom.

16. Sentence এর শুরুতে would that থাকলে subject এর পরে could বসে এবং প্রদত্ত verb এর present form বসে।

Incorrect: Would that i go to college.

Correct: Would that I could go to college.

17. To be এবং having এর পর মূল verb এর past participle হয়।

Incorrect: He ran away having take the money.

Correct: He ran away having taken the money.

18. প্রদত্ত verb এর পূর্বে mind, worth, without, past, cannot help, could not help, with a view to, look forward to, would you mind, get usd to এবং preposition থাকলে verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয়।

Incorrect: I went to the library with a view to read there.

Correct: I went to the library with a view to reading there.

Incorrect: He never thought of go to cinema.

Correct: He never thought of going to cinema.

19. It is high time, it is time, wish, fance ইত্যাদি থাকলে মূল verb এর past form হয়।

Incorrect: It is high time he change his bad habits.

Correct: It is high time he changed his bad habits.

Incorrect: I wish I sing a song.

Correct: I wish I sang a song.

20. As though, as if, wish থাকলে to be verb এর জায়গায় were বসে।

Incorrect: He talks as if he to be leader.

Correct: He talks as if he were leader.

21. As though/as if এর ১ম অংশ present indefinite tense হলে পরের অংশ past indefinite tense হয়। আবার ১ম অংশ past indefinite tense হলে পরের অংশ past perfect tense হয়।

Incorrect: He speaks as though he know everything.

Correct: He speaks as though he knew everything.

Incorrect: She proceeded as though I not speak.

Correct: She proceeded as though I had not spoken.

22. Every, each, one of ইত্যাদি থাকলে প্রদত্ত verb এর singular হয়।

Incorrect: Everybody love flowers.

Correct: Everybody loves flowers.

23. Can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would ইত্যাদি auxiliary verb থাকলে মূল verb টি present form হবে।

Incorrect: You may came tomorrow.

Correct: You may come tomorrow.

24. Am, is, are, was, were ইত্যাদি to be verb- এর পর passive voice এর ক্ষেএে main verb-এর past participle হয়।

Incorrect: The book was steal.

Correct: The book was stolen.

25. If + Present Indefinite Tense + Future Indefinite Tense

If clause টি যদি Present Indefinite Tenseহয় তাহলে অপর clause টি Future Indefinite Tense হবে।

Incorrect: If he works hard, he shine in life.

Correct: If he works hard, he will shine in life.

26. If + Past Indefinite + Past Conditional (Subject + would /might/could + মূল verb এর present form).

Incorrect: If he came, I go.

Correct: If he came, I would go.

Incorrect: I would help him if he want.

Correct: I would help him if he wanted.

27. If clause টি Past Perfect Tense-এ থাকলে পরের অংশটির (Principal Clause) subject এর পরে might have/ would have/ could have বসে এবং verb টির past participle হয়।

Incorrect: If i had seen him, I tell him the matter.

Correct: If i had seen him, I might have told the matter.

28. Had + Subject + Past participle দ্বারা কোন sentence শুরু হলে অপর টি perfect conditional হয়।

Incorrect: Had i been a king, I help the poor.

Correct: Had i been a king, I would help the poor.

29. দুটি clause এর মধ্যে যেটিতে If + Subject + were থাকে অপরটি (principal clause) subject এর পরে might/would/could বসে। এবং main verb এর present form হয়।

Incorrect: If I were a bird, I fly.

Correct: If i were a bird, I would fly.

30. কোন কাজ পূর্বে শুরু হয়ে এখনও চলতেছে বুঝালে verb এর Present perfect continious tense হয়।

Incorrect: I read for three hours.

Correct: I have been reading for three hours.

31. Have, has, had, got, get, cause, make ইত্যাদি verb গুলি যখন কোন sentence এর মধ্যে Causative verb এর কাজ করে তখন main verb টি past participle হয়।

Incorrect: I got the work do by him.

Correct: I got the work done by him.

32. Lest যুক্ত sentence এ lest এর পরে যে subject থাকে তার পরে should/ might বসে।

Incorrect: He ran fast lest he miss the train.

Correct: He ran fast lest he should miss the train.

33. While এর ঠিক পরেই যে verb থাকে তার সাথে ing যুক্ত করতে হয়। কিন্তু while এর পরে subject থাকলে while এর অংশটি Past Continuous Tense হয়।  

Incorrect: While walk in the garden, snake bit him.

Correct: While walking in the garden, a snake bit him.

Incorrect: While he was walk in the garden, a snake bit him.

Correct: While he was walking in the garden, a snake bit him.

34. কোন sentence এর verb তার subject এর number এবং অনুযায়ী ব্যবহৃত হয়। Subject singular হলে verb singular হয় এবং subject plural হলে verb plural হয়।

Incorrect: The color of his eyes be blue.

Correct: The color of his eyes is blue.

35. একই দৈর্ঘ্য, পরিমাণ বা স্থান বুঝালে subject দেখতে plural হলেও verb singular হয়।

Incorrect: Fifty miles be a long way.

Correct: Fifty miles is a long way.

36. কোন sentence যদি there দ্বারা শুরু হয় এবং তার পর যদি singular number থাকে তাহলে there এর পরে singular verb বসে। এবং plural number থাকলে there এর পর plural verb বসে।

Incorrect: There be a high school in our village.

Correct: There is a high school in our village.
